Are all your colours in your bath and body products skin and tub safe?
We use a mixture of lake colours and mica skin safe colours, where needed we mix these pigments with polysorbate to ensure you are not left with a stain in your tub or on your skin. In the rare circumstance that staining has occurred or residue has been left behind in the tub (this can usually be due to an unclean tub to begin with), a light scour from a bathroom sponge can usually remove it if it hasn't set, as with all stains, its best to get onto these immediately, if the stain has set, household dishwash liquid and a little elbow grease can remove these marks.
There appears to be some pigmentation in my soap or candle, is this normal?
As all our products are handcrafted, there can be some pigmentation and settling of colour particles that can occur during manufacturing, this is not considered a defect, it is simply a quirk of the item being truly handcrafted and does not affect the performance of the product.
What's this 'dew' or 'sweat' like stuff on my soap?
This is commonly known as 'glycerin dew'. Most of our soap based products have a very high glycerin content. As glycerin is a humectant, it draws moisture to itself (from the air) and what it touches (i,e, your skin), It is purely cosmetic and does not affect the performance of the product, as such it is not considered a defect. Glycerin dew is why we individually wrap all our products in bio shrink wrap to eliminate contact with the air and we highly recommend you leave the items wrapped until you are ready to use them.
Do your products contain allergens?
It depends on the product and allergen in question. Please refer to individual product pages for ingredients and be aware that Blythe Creations is not responsible for any allergic reactions. if you do suffer from an allergic reaction, please seek medical advice.
I really like a particular scent but it's not available in the product I love, is it possible to make a product request?
We love creating new and wonderful products for our customers. Sometimes we hit the creative 'writers block' and as such, we welcome suggestions through our contact form. After spending some time on our site, you will see what products we offer and how wide the range of scents is that we have available to us. While we cannot guarantee that a request will be created, we do try to accommodate everybody with our large catalogue of product offerings, and we are adding new products and variants all the time, so keep checking back periodically.
I can't smell the candle I purchased! is it defective?
Welcome to the world of 'candle nose'. This happens to us a lot when we are making the candles, after working with the scents all day, we can no longer smell them as we get used to them around us in the environment. We recommend briefly leaving the room for a second (remember - never leave a burning candle unattended) if possible to clear your senses, or else (carefully!) move closer to the candle and inhale. If neither of these options work, it may be a case where you are too used to the scent, try switching it up to a different scent or else ask other people entering the room if they can smell it (usually they will tell you before you have a chance to ask! Our candles smell so good they get remarks all the time! Even when they are unlit!).
My candle doesn't have a smooth appearance on its top, is it still okay to use?
Sometimes soy waxes can create a ruptured or bubbly appearance on its top, this is a completely normal reaction to the wax trying to return to its natural state after having been heated. It can also cause a frosty appearance, more noticeable in coloured candles. Both of these reactions are normal and do not affect the burning of the candle, in fact, its actually a sign of the high quality natural waxes that we use - we could add nasty petroleum based additives to create the commercially mass produced smooth tops that we are used to seeing in shops, however we choose not to to preserve the fact that all our candles are hand poured, uniquely crafted and made using natural waxes.
I ignored the multiple warnings on your candles and have injured myself/burnt my house down. Will Blythe Creations cover my loses?
While we are sorry to hear of your injury or property damage, Blythe Creations cannot be held responsible for incorrect use of products or ignoring the warning labels. This disclaimer is also available on all candle product pages and included in the terms and conditions of purchase.
There seems to be a lot of plastic in my order? I thought you were about being kind to the environment too?
The following information does not apply to the perforated shrink wrap on lip balm tubes or tubs.
Great news! We use environmentally friendly EcoPure® Biodegradable shrink wrap on all our soaps, sugar scrubbies, bath fizzies and shower steamers. We also use it as a 'tamper tell' on our bottles so you know you are getting products that have been sealed for freshness and your own safety.

Biodegradation of EcoPure® products will occur anywhere there is an active microbial environment. Sitting on the dirt next to the road will subject the bottle to an active microbial environment; however if the entire bag will not be subjected to the microbial environment simultaneously, it will result in a much longer biodegradation period. Plastic litter also has an unfortunate habit of blowing in the wind and floating on water, which might serve to disrupt some microbe colonies during the biodegradation process, which might then slow the process down.
Over 75% of plastic bottles and over 94% of all plastics in general end up in landflls. EcoPure®-treated plastic that ends up in a landfill will fully biodegrade over a period of time. Landfill environments are anaerobic in nature and produce methane gas as a by-product of anaerobic fermentation taking place deep within.
